Chant: Deeply descend into I Am, deeply descend into One — The Oriental Orthodox Order in the West
Tuesday, May 20th
Reading: “What if those great theological virtues of faith, hope, and love were not merely virtues but actual energy fields that could subtly change the nature of "objective" reality? Pondering this "alchemical" capacity of faith, [Teilhard de Chardin] writes: "Under [its] influence, the universe is capable, without outwardly changing its characteristics, of becoming more supple, more fully animate ... If we believe, then everything is illuminated and takes shape around us: chance is seen to be order, success assumes an incorruptible plenitude, suffering becomes a visit and a caress of God. But if we hesitate, the rock remains dry, the sky dark, the waters treacherous and shifting. And we may hear the voice of the master, faced with our bungled lives. 'O men of little faith, why do you doubt?'" — Cynthia Bourgeault
Chant: Be right here, in the Heart of God — Henry Schoenfield
Wednesday, May 21st
Reading: “What is above knows what is below, but what is below does not know what is above. One climbs, one sees. One descends, one sees no longer, but one has seen. There is an art of conducting oneself in the lower regions by the memory of what one saw higher up. When one can no longer see, one can at least still know.” — René Daumal
Chant: Blessed is the one who turns around and awakens, blessed is the one who opens blinded eyes — Epiphany Today
Thursday, May 22nd
Reading: “The Witness is that which is capable of observing the flow of what is - without interfering with it, commenting on it, or in any way manipulating it. The Witness simply observes the stream of events both inside and outside the mind-body in a creatively detached fashion, since, in fact, the Witness is not exclusively identified with either. In other words, when you realize that your mind and your body can be perceived objectively, you spontaneously realize that they cannot constitute a real subjective self. As Huang Po put it, "Let me remind you, the perceived cannot perceive."” — Ken Wilbur, Psychologia Perennis
Chant: Speak through the earthquake the wind and the fire, oh still small voice of love — Darlene Franz
Friday, May 23rd
Chant: Abuna — Epiphany Today
Saturday, May 24th
Reading: “Those who have eyes to see will discern the message of eternity in the spring breeze when it becomes visible in the roses and herbs: invisible waves of roses, hidden in the breeze, required the medium of the earth to reveal themselves to the material human eye, just as the human beings innate qualities must be revealed by his or her actions. The spirit needs matter in order to become visible; thus every leaf is a messenger from the realm of nonexistence, and talks with its long hands and fresh green tongue of the creative power of God.”— Annemarie Schimmel, Rumi’s World
Chant: Come to know the one in the presence before you, and everything hidden, all will be revealed — Darlene Franz
Sunday, May 25th
Reading: "Classic spiritual work, no matter what the religious tradition, is about transcending the ego. It seeks to awaken within a person something that is recognized as "true self," or higher Self. This does not necessarily mean eliminating the ego, but rather displacing it as the seat of one's personal identity. The process is rather like discovering that the earth revolves around the sun rather than vice versa." — Cynthia Bourgeault
Chant: Come into being as you pass away — The Oriental Orthodox Order in the West
